Todd Boyland, CRES, CPSM, A+, Network+, Security+

"Diagnosing Problems in a PACS Network Using Software Emulators"

o Identify “finger pointing” issues that arise in PACS/DICOM networks.

o Introduce DICOM Emulators and basic operations.

o Use DICOM emulators to troubleshoot problems between systems in PACS networks.

o Demonstrate DICOM Emulator troubleshooting techniques and logging.

o Make troubleshooting techniques so easy you have no excuse not to implement them.

Todd joined RSTI as an Instructor in 2001. Todd is CRES (Certified radiology Equipment Specialist) Certified as well as CPSM (Certified PACS Systems Master) Certified as a PACS administrator. His expertise in various areas of technology and imaging systems qualifies him to develop RSTI’s modern/new curriculum and ensure RSTI instructor development. He serves as CEO and Director of Training of RSTI Training, and RSTI’s Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).

We encourage anyone who wants to, to bring a laptop w/ admin rights to the course, as they will be able to install and use the emulator troubleshooting software and participate in the troubleshooting demos Todd does. Make sure it has at least 2+ hours of battery life.

"I Just Biomed Here"

DFW Branch Manager (SPBS) Host of Bearded Biomed Podcast

I started my career in 2010, graduating from the DOD 68A course at Shepard Airforce Base. I was stationed at Ft Hood, TX and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and Liberia in 2014. In 2017 I transitioned to the civilian sector. From that moment to 2024 I've been a field service technician for SPBS. Im cuurently the DFW Branch Manager overseeing 900+ active healthcare clients. In 2021 I reintroduced myself to the world as the Bearded Biomed, host of the hit podcast that has taken the profession by storm. Interviewing key figures and colleagues over multitudes of topics that can be tuned into via Spotify, Apple, or YouTube. In between being a full time Biomed, and working the podcast angle I've obtained the CHTM, CBET, and BS in management. In 2023 I wrote and self published "Ollie The Biomed" the first ever Biomed children's book to showcase the day to day life of a Biomedical Equipment Technician. I strive to leave a lasting mark within this profession to inspire, mentor, and better the Biomed field.
