Janet Thomason

"Impacting Global Health - Biomed Heros"

No stranger to the world of nonprofits, Janet has a diverse history of nonprofit management and board development experience. Currently, she serves Project C.U.R.E. as the Director of National Procurement and is responsible for building relationships with manufacturers, distributors and medical facilities in order to secure the product donations which will ultimately help Project C.U.R.E. save lives in low-resourced countries. Each week, Project C.U.R.E. delivers approximately four semi-truck loads of donated medical supplies and equipment to desperately needy people around the world. Under her direction, the organization has implemented numerous programs to strategically increase the supply of life saving equipment available for countries in need. 183 cargo containers of equipment and supplies were shipped by Project C.U.R.E. during fiscal year 2020.

Janet welcomes opportunities to speak to groups and share how healthcare professionals and related industries can use their resources to strengthen healthcare systems in vulnerable populations.

Janet has an extensive entrepreneurial background as well as professional experience in sales and marketing management. Her professional experience ranges from large to small corporations, having worked with Fortune 500 companies, as well as privately held corporations. Larry Fennigkoh, Ph.D.

"The Scientific Reality and Irrelevance of Medical Device Leakage Currents"

Adjunct Professor-Biomedical Engineering Milwaukee School of Engineering

Since its beginning, the HTM profession has and continues to devote an enormous amount of its precious resources and time to the measurement of device leakage or ‘touch’ currents. While the codes and standards requiring such measurements have relaxed, such measurements have become inextricably associated with ‘electrical safety’ and continue to be an integral but completely unnecessary task during routine PM inspections. Based upon well-established AC circuit principles and the human response to electrical currents, this session with show why the routine measurement of device leakage currents can be eliminated without any decrease in patient safety.
